Newton Blues Out of School Club Profile

"When we've been at school all day,

all we want to do is play"

Environment

We aim to provide a happy, friendly atmosphere for all the children. We have a wide variety of equipment for in and outdoor play the children have free choice

We have a large television, as some of the children like to recharge their batteries for half an hour at the beginning of their session or watch their favourite programme during the session

Children can learn valuable skills through play, sharing, including others, social skills, working as a team; we encourage children to develop these in a secure environment.

Booking in

•·        Sessions are booked on a first come, first serve basis

•·        You will be asked to fill in a registration form which will give the staff important information, this is an OFSTED regulation, we can not care for any child without these details

•·        There will be a registration charge of £5. This will be a one off fee throughout the term at School, which will ensure yearly updates of information

Opening times

•·        Breakfast - 7.30am - 8.45am

•·        After School - 3.30pm - 6.00pm

Please note that the times will change three times a year (Christmas, Easter and at the end of the summer term)

When school closes at 2.15pm, After school club will only open if there is a parental demand - letters will be forwarded nearer the time.

Admissions

  • It is the responsibility of the Supervisor to ensure that an accurate record is kept of all children in the Club, and that any arrival or departure to and from the premises is recorded in the signing in/out book. The Signing in/out book will be kept in an accessible location on the premises at all times

  • This process will be supplemented by regular head counts during the day.

Arrivals

Children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be collected from the classrooms at 3.30pm the end of the school day. Juniors will be given the responsibility to make their own way to the Out of School Club building.

On arrival, a staff member will sign "in" your child immediately and record the time of registration.

If a child is absent from the Club without prior warning, staff will check to see if they attended school that day - they will not simply accept the word of other children. If the whereabouts of the child is not clear, staff will

immediately inform the designated contact at the school and the parents/carers.

We appreciate that plans can change at very short notice. If parents have a place booked and you don't require After school care on that evening. Please pop in and inform the staff

Children who attend the club from alternative schools will be collected from the bus stop outside the school.

We have decided to offer places to children in year 7. Secondary School children will be able to make their own way to Out of school Club. Communication with parents will be essential to determine what appropriate times children have to get to out of school club.

Departures

If the child is to be collected by someone other than the parent/carer, this must be indicated to a member of staff and recorded prior to the session. The adult nominated to collect a child must be one of those named on the Admissions Form. Only adults - aged 16 years and over - and with suitable identification, will be authorised to collect children.

The parent or responsible person will be asked to sign the child out when they collect your child. This is for

•·        security reasons,

•·        evidence the child has attended

•·        safety in case of a fire

•·        to enable us to monitor numbers attending each session,  for Ofsted to check our ratio of staff to children.

Permission and arrangements for children leaving the Club alone at the end of a session will be a matter for discussion between the Manager and parents/carers, based on an understanding of a child's age, maturity and previous experience. Written consent for children leaving the Club alone must be submitted to the Club before such arrangements are able to commence.

No child under the age of 8 will be allowed to leave the Club unaccompanied.

All children can be collected at any time during the session up to 6.00pm. All children should be collected promptly at 6.00 pm - There will be a charge of £10 for a late pick up. This charge will be paid directly towards the two members of Staff who have incurred the additional unpaid time.

If you are running late because of traffic etc please contact the club directly on.

Refreshment

•·        Refreshment will be given at each session, usually 100% juice, water or Milk. A healthy snack will be prepared for the children after school.

•·        Healthy Breakfasts and snacks will always be available in line with the Schools healthy Eating Policy

•·        Water will be on offer throughout the sessions, children will be encouraged to drink plenty of water when the weather is warm

The club aims to provide an efficient and accessible service for parents and children in our care.

Although we are situated within school, we are run completely separate from school. If you wish to discuss any issues or aspect of care please discuss this with Michelle Welch or e-mail

                                                michellewelch@blueyonder.co.uk

If you are not satisfied with any aspect of the club please speak to the Michelle Welch or Acting Supervisor Sarah Horrocks who will deal with your complaint.

If you are not happy with the outcome you can write or telephone Ofsted at the address below as it is their duty to ensure that the registration is adhered to by the service provider.
