What's On Around The Area
Congratulations to Matt Roskell of Thornton, the winner of a photography competition organised by Wyre Borough Council's Countryside Team.
Amateur lensmen were invited to submit pictures of Wyre's wildlife for an exhibition celebrating World Environment Day. More than 30 entries were considered but Matt's snap of a sparrow hawk feeding was declared the overall winner.

A round-up of events taking place in Wyre during the next few weeks, starting with a celebration of Cleveleys award-winning seafront.
Following completion of the final public enhancement works, the whole promenade will be officially opened at 10.30am on Sunday 4 July by Mayor of Wyre, Councillor Russell Forsyth to mark the start of Cleveleys Seafest.
This final phase, funded through the European Regional Development Fund, was for additional shelters, lighting and furniture, which have now been installed. Art work will appear throughout the next 18 months and Wyre Borough Council will continue to work with the Cleveleys Seafront Partnership to make full use of the new public open space areas, holding events and activities that will help to promote and rejuvenate Cleveleys.
Cleveleys Seafest will be the first of these, providing a day of entertainment for all the family. Activities kick off with a grand parade along the promenade to Jubilee Gardens where the Radio Wave roadshow will broadcast live throughout the day. Led by Poco Loco samba band, the parade will include school children in various costumes and 12 foot tall street walker puppets.
Other attractions include petting animals from Farmer Parrs, a fun fair, steam train rides, model aeroplanes, live music, a skateboard competition in Jubilee Gardens at 1.30pm and a church seafront Sunday service at the Plaza at 4pm.
