Try out the Tramper in Wyre
Want to find out how to enjoy Wyre's stunning scenery if you have problems getting around?
Then take up the invitation to try out the Wyresdale Wheels Tramper on Thursday 8 April.
The all-terrain buggy, which is free to hire, will be available for a test drive at the new Visit Garstang Centre in Cherestanc Square from 10 am until 3.30pm.
Not too long ago anyone with mobility problems had to miss out on much of Wyre's countryside simply because it was inaccessible. But all that changed with investment in the Tramper, the buggy that's tough enough to cope with rough ground, mud, grass and the wildest of locations.
Special risk-assessed Tramper Trails at both the Wyre Estuary Country Park and Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty have given disabled people the chance to experience tops of hills and more challenging countryside alongside friends and family. By improving public footpaths in the wider countryside to remove barriers such as stiles, Tramper users can explore places such as Scorton, Grizedale Valley and Bleasdale. At the same time the improvements have made the routes more accessible for people with less severe walking difficulties and families with pushchairs.
This year the Wyre Countryside team has put together a varied programme of Tramper Treks so why not book your place on them while visiting the new centre.
