Royal Street Parties in Fylde?

Royal Street Parties in Fylde?

Are YOU planning a street party to celebrate the royal wedding?

If so, Fylde Council staff are offering to lend a hand to ensure that April’s royal wedding goes with a swing.

They are offering to speed the processing of Road Closure Orders and are also planning a March meeting to advise party organisers of requirements for road-closure signage, insurance and risk assessments.

Licensing officer Chris Hambly said: “We are asking people to let us know of proposed street parties by 28 February so we and the police can ensure that the correct timescales are achieved.

“Organisers can apply for a Road Closure Order after 28 February, but time constraints mean we won’t be able to help them in that.

“Many people will be planning to celebrate on 29 April, but there needs to be planning ahead to ensure that road closure does not clash with work on the road such as maintenance or work by utility companies.”

A notification form is available on Fylde Council’s website at www.fylde.gov.uk or can be obtained by contacting the council’s licensing team on 01253 658422 or by email at: licensing@fylde.gov.uk

Larger public events attracting more people require a different process. Please ring the above numbers for details.

There is a fee charged for Road Closure Notices, regardless of whether party organisers apply before or after 28 February. By combining a number of applications – those that apply before 28 February – will, it is hoped reduce cost by reducing paperwork.
