Nominations sought for Wyre's Sports Awards
Wyre is launching its annual sports awards with an appeal for nominations.
Every year the dedication of community sports coaches and volunteers is recognised both at district and county level.
Nominations are now being sought for this year's event in the following categories:
- Coach of the year
- Community club of the year
- Young volunteer of the year (aged 14-24)
- Rising star 2008 (under 18 years)
- Special recognition award
- Lifetime achievement - commitment to sport
Any individual or club can put someone forward for the awards by completing a simple nomination form, now available to submit online at www.lancashiresport.org.uk/wyresportsawards2009 by 20 July.
A selection panel will choose a Wyre winner for each category who will then go on to represent the borough at the county awards on 23 October.
Tom Pridmore, Director of Leisure Services for Wyre Borough Council, said: "Without the hard work and dedication of volunteers, many sports clubs would not exist. These awards provide an ideal opportunity for local people to recognise these efforts."
