New Chair for Lancashire Infrastructure Consortium

New Chair for Lancashire Infrastructure Consortium

The Lancashire Infrastructure Consortium, is pleased to announce the appointment of its first independent Chair, Sir Bill Taylor (pictured).

The voluntary and community sector plays a crucial role in building strong, cohesive and self‐determining communities and the Consortium is central to supporting those goals. Sir Bill is known to many people, not only for his affable nature and ‘get‐done’ approach to things, but also for his outstanding record of public service. He now spends much of
his time working improving delivery through best value.

Speaking on his appointment Sir Bill told FYLDElife; “When I was approached about the position I was very excited by the prospect of being part of the organisation that will be central to the role of developing the Voluntary and Community sector across the county. Time and time again, the voluntary sector proves itself as leading in community matters and improving society in ways that the private sector cannot respond. This can be seen by the fact the Government has centred much of the delivery of its ‘Real Help’ programme through the sector.” Sir Bill added, “it will be a privilege, a pleasure and a challenge to help put the Consortium at the centre of the agenda for improvement.”

Lesley Doyle, from Lancashire Education & Business Partnership stated, “The Lancashire Consortium is core to the improvement of support to the Voluntary sector, and the appointment of Sir Bill will certainly help us to deliver those goals.

Voluntary and community groups are encouraged to register online with the consortium at www.lancashireconsortium.org.uk
