Honorary Chaplain to the Queen from Lytham
Fylde Borough Council has offered its congratulations to Canon Andrew Clitherow of St Cuthbert’s Church in Lytham by awarding him with a piece of crystal.
At a ceremony, at St Cuthbert's on Sunday 18 May, the Lord Lieutenant, Lord Shuttleworth presented Canon Andrew Clitherow with his Badge of Office as an Honorary Chaplain to the Queen.
The Mayor of Fylde, and other dignitaries attended the ceremony, and the Mayor, Councillor Susan Fazackerley, gave Canon Andrew a crystal bowl to commemorate the occasion and to add the Council’s recognition of such a huge honour.
Councillor Fazackerley, Mayor of Fylde, said: "This really is a huge honour for Canon Andrew Clitherow as there are only 36 Honorary Chaplains in the country. He is a very well known and well respected church leader who is fully deserving of his new title.”
Fylde Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Community and Social Wellbeing, Councillor Patricia Fieldhouse, added: “We are very proud of Canon Andrew’s achievements and hope that he continues to serve his community for a long time to come. It is very rare that the Lord Lieutenant, Lord Shuttleworth, visits Fylde and it was a wonderful honour to have him here for this prestigious event.”
