Free Websites For Local Groups

Free Websites For Local Groups

Residents, community groups and voluntary organisations in Fylde are being offered the chance to get themselves a presence on the world wide web.

Fylde Borough Council is working in partnership with Fylde Life to develop MyFylde, a section within the Fylde Life community website which will allow local organisations to create their own web pages.

Fylde Life is your local community website aimed at keeping residents, businesses and organisations up-to-date with the latest Fylde news and local information as well as providing a number of valuable services to the local community. The site is free to use for anybody living or working in the Fylde area.

The MyFylde area gives access to local and useful assistance specifically for the Fylde community. It also provide links to Fylde Borough Council’s comprehensive range of information and services.

FREE WEBSITES FOR SPORTS CLUBS AND LOCAL ORGANISATIONS

The partnership will allow local non-profit organisations to build their own websites and launch onto the world-wide web. There are no set-up fees or on-going costs for the service. The easy to use system makes it simple for local clubs and associations to promote their organisations and to keep in touch with members and attract new ones. Organisations who want a free website simply register with Fylde Life, complete the online application form and Fylde Borough Council will despatch a Welcome Pack containing all the information needed. A video tutorial and user guide is made available and a number of group training sessions are planned to really help users get the most out of their own website.

Cllr Paul Rigby, Cabinet Member for Finance and Efficiency, which includes web activity, said: “As a Council we are always looking for opportunities to work with local organisations to assist the community. This partnership with Fylde Life presents a wonderful opportunity for local organisations of any size to widen their reach via the world-wide web and benefit from the increased publicity. This might help in fundraising, attracting new members or advertising events, for example.”

Lester Jefferson, Managing Director of FyldeLife.co.uk, added: “This exciting partnership is extremely beneficial to the Fylde area, especially to the hundreds of local clubs, associations and community groups. For our part, we have created a unique communication channel for everyone to use, be it residents, business or organisations.

“Fylde Life have already made it possible for everyone to freely post their news and events and have included free classified advertising for all. Local businesses and organisations can also list their details in the Fylde Life directories making it easy for visitor searching.  The icing on the cake which this partnership delivers, allows the free provision of a website to qualifying groups, and makes it possible for the first time for Fylde community groups to take advantage of the world wide web”.
