FREE PASSENGER PARKING TAKES OFF

It is just four months since Blackpool International launched its free passenger parking initiative.

Passengers from across Lancashire and the Lake District are already showing their support and enjoying the benefits of air travel from Blackpool International Airport.

Launched in January 2009, the initiative offers all departing passengers free parking for up to 15 days at Blackpool International and for those just wishing to pick-up or drop-off parking is free for 15 minutes.

The airport is currently undergoing a £2.5m investment including updating and extending the parking facilities with more spaces being made available to all departing passengers travelling to over 20 European destinations including Alicante, Palma, Malaga and new for 2009, Mahon Menorca.

Susan Kendrick, customer relations and communications manager at the airport, said: “We’re delighted that we can give something back to our passengers by way of the free passenger parking, this can represent a significant saving when taking into account costs of parking at other airports or a return taxi fare.

“We really appreciate our passengers’ support and we want even more people living in Lancashire and the Lake District to enjoy the benefits Blackpool International has to offer.  As well as free parking, passengers can enjoy a fast-track airport experience, which is a great, hassle free way to start your travels.”

Blackpool International was recently voted passengers’ favourite airport in a Which?Holiday survey.  The airport is flying high and is looking to attract more passengers and more airlines in order to provide a greater choice of destinations for travellers across Lancashire and the Lake District.

Sue added:  “We would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for us in the Which?Holiday survey, it’s a great reflection on all the staff at the airport and the effort they make to ensure that everyone has a great start to their travels.”
