Fleetwood Tram Sunday Cancelled

Following meetings and ongoing discussions with The Fleetwood Chamber of Trade and Commerce, FTF Ltd (The Festival Organisers) have made the sad decision to cancel the Festival for 2010.

For the past few years we have struggled to keep the festival running, with yearly appeals for physical help as well as investment from the business community and the local authority constantly putting the event in doubt,

Our decision was made purely because of lack of finances required.

The Chamber came on board a few weeks ago to hopefully attract the £16,000 needed to finance the 2010 festival, but despite some pledges coming in, it is still well short of the required amount.

In the past 3 years the company has spent an extra £25,000 from funds accumulated over the previous 20 years to ensure its success as the largest event of its kind in the North of England.

The business community through the last Chamber meeting felt it best to allow the Tram way upgrade to continue unhindered and that any break in the schedule, to accommodate the festival would adversely affect the completion date.

Whilst FTF Ltd will no longer be responsible for the running of any future Festival, we wish the new team from the Fleetwood Chamber of Trade and Commerce every success for 2011 and beyond.

Any payments made by exhibitors or trade stalls will be returned over the next week or so.

The Festival team are a group of unpaid enthusiastic and skilled volunteers, who over the years have worked long and hard to produce what is arguably one of the best festivals of its kind anywhere in the UK. Our sincere thanks go out to them for their past efforts and hard work.

We would also like to thank all those that have supported the festival, either physically or financially for the past 25 years.

Fleetwood Transport Festival Ltd will continue as a non trading company for the foreseeable future, and hold all legal rights to the name Fleetwood Transport Festival Ltd as lodged with company’s house and in accordance with Company law. We the company would like to thank everyone for their efforts during this difficult time as well as their unstinting work over the past years.
