Crime in Fylde Down Almost 20 Percent
Fylde Council and Lancashire Police are toasting their success after achieving an astonishing 18.2 percent reduction in the British Crime Survey comparator.
The fall was recorded over the past three years - after the government set a target of a 16 percent reduction.
Philip Woodward, Chief Executive of Fylde Borough Council said: “The partnership has done some excellent work over the last three years in reducing the levels of crime in the borough. The initiatives they have instigated would not have been possible had it been left to individual organisations and we would not now be reaping the benefits of them.
“The results, which show that Fylde is safer than most other districts in the North West, should be of great reassurance to local residents and I am pleased our efforts are recognised in the eyes of the government.”
Chief Superintendent Russ Weaver, Divisional Commander of Western Division, added: “It is significant that Fylde is already a very low crime area and so to achieve such a scale of crime reduction has to be really good news for local people.
“I think everyone wants to live in a safe area and it’s good to know that residents of Fylde are living in an area that is the envy of other people in Lancashire”.
County Councillor Bernard Whittle, from The Local Strategic Partnership said:
“This success is due to the active co-operation of all partners in identifying problems and working together to effect an improvement. I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate all our partners and to encourage them to work even harder in future to maintain Fylde as one of the safest places to live in the country”
