Business boost for Kirkham

KIRKHAM businesses are being offered fifty percent towards the cost of refurbishing their business, thanks to a new grant scheme.

The scheme gives businesses the opportunity to apply for up to fifty percent of the value of improvements to their premises or shop front improvements, some internal refurbishments and extensions.

This will be accompanied by business support from Fylde Low Waste and Energy (FLoWE), Lancashire Business Environment Association and Business Venture Group to help cut costs, increase revenues and maximise profits.

Kirkham Renaissance is a new grant scheme offered through a partnership of Lancashire County Council’s economic development department, Lancashire County Developments Limited, Flyde Borough Council and Kirkham and Wesham Business Group.

An event to launch the scheme is being held at Kirkham Community Centre on 5 August at 6pm. The event will invite eligible businesses to come along and discuss their ideas in more details. Lancashire County Council Leader Hazel Harding will open the event.

Councillor Harding said: "Following similar successful schemes in other parts of the county, I have seen the impact these types of grants can make to improving local economies. By offering these grants businesses can make their premises more attractive and adaptable to increase trade and employment opportunities.

"I would urge Kirkham businesses to come along to this event to hear what is on offer and how we as a partnership can help them."

The event takes place at Kirkham Community Centre from 6pm on Tuesday 5 August 2008.
